While there continues to be a good number of naysayers when it comes to hunting, many people cannot deny its many benefits as well. Hunting is an excellent way of honing your survival instinct and is not all senseless killing. Going on guided deer hunts or elk hunts can be a fun way to spend some time with fellow hunting enthusiasts and even your family.
Nothing beats that rush of adrenaline of going trophy hunting for the very first time. If, indeed, it’s your first time to go on a guided hunting trip, you will get to learn the ropes from an expert, and soon might be a regular sport hunter yourself. The training that you’ll get from a guide is the biggest benefit of these guided trips.
Elk hunting is one of the most challenging in sport hunting. Any Joe Schmoe can claim that he can provide you with shooting techniques. However, if you go on one of these guided elk hunts, you’ll get the real deal. You also get to familiarize yourself with the area and learn the best techniques so that you can get the biggest trophy elk.
Since walking is a necessity on these hunting trips, you’ll definitely get the benefit of exercise if you go on one. You’ll also get a lot of fresh air from the forest during your search for game. If you’re unable to hunt for elk, maybe you can spot a deer or an antelope that you can bring home.
Hunting also gives you the chance to meet new people with similar interests. You can exchange tips on how to hunt and enjoy the camaraderie. You can even bring your family along if you want. There are some companies that provide hunting opportunities for the whole family in Wisconsin.
Places like Little Tex Hunts are hunting lodges that also have youth programs. If you want Sonny to learn the ropes of sport hunting, these might be the perfect places to take him for guaranteed elk hunts. This means that you’ll get what you had gone there for and enjoy the memories along the way.

Big game hunts are allowed in nature preserves run by luxury hunting resorts. In these private hunting preserves, a trophy deer hunt is offered, suited to any hunter. The entire herd is free ranging so the hunter needs to work for his animal. At Little Tex, for example, trophy deer hunts have been perfected to provide the ultimate big game experience by substantially increasing the hunter’s odds of taking his trophy. The hunting ground also breeds record class whitetails, fallow deer and elk.

Hunting as an activity can be traced back to as early as the first humans’ quest for food. They hunted, scavenged and gathered whatever they could to have something to eat, survive those hunger pangs, and preserve their life, long before they ever learned to plant or cook. Today, while game is still prepared and served in a celebratory meal, hunting it has already evolved into a sport.

Hunting in game preserves allows for a more controlled and regulated environment to prevent anyone from getting hurt, or to put a check on the over-hunting of animals. They open on a particular season, and in the interim or off-season, they breed the animals to replenish their population for the next season’s game hunt. Game preserves such as the Little Tex Hunts have controlled habitats where hunters can also expect to go on trophy elk hunts along with first-class guides. Hunting these deer in such game preserves ensures the survival of others that are out in the wild.

As a modern sport or pastime evolved from its food-search predecessor, hunting is conducted on lands approved for open hunting, or free hunting. There are varied and deeply personal motivations for hunting that continue to this day. For some people, it’s the thrill of the hunt that drives them; for some others it’s a cultural confirmation, a rite of passage passed on from father to son, man to man. The common motivation is the sense of personal fulfillment derived from the activity, the communion with nature and animal.

Trophy fallow deer hunts is one of the most challenging hunts in these game preserves—and also one of the most highly favored by exotic game hunters. They are sought after not only because of their remarkable antlers but also because fallow deer provides some of the best venison in the world. Little Tex continues to produce herd for bigger and better record class trophy animals.

No other pursuit harnesses primal human urges and cunning quite like hunting. Cave paintings depict prehistoric hunters using crude spears and rocks to take down mammoths and other beasts. Modern-day hunters use advanced sporting pieces like rifles, shotguns, handguns, and bows, yet the primordial thrill of the hunt remains. One curious difference in present-day hunting is the presence of laws such as the State-imposed restrictions on muzzle energy and calibers for firearms used on guided elk hunts, for instance.

Whether you wish to pursue hunting as a hobby or as a sport, you should first be acquainted with the environmental laws in your area. You also need to secure a hunting license from your local government. To qualify for a license, you need to be at least 12 years old, and have received basic sportsman education on safety. In Wisconsin, hunters are required to renew their licenses yearly in accordance with policies set by the Department of Natural Resources.

The possibilities in the sport of hunting seem endless. You can choose from various game animal categories like big game, small game, predators, furbearers, waterfowl, and upland birds. Big game animals in North America include white-tailed deer, moose, elk, bear, and a few others. Rabbits, squirrels, porcupines, armadillos, and opossums are considered small game; while otters, mink, and beavers are furbearers.

Coyotes, pumas, wolves, and the like are hunters in their own right yet also make for popular game for sportsmen. Geese, ducks, and swan fall under the waterfowl category. Meanwhile, dove, woodcock, and quail are considered upland game birds.

Hunting preserves like Little Tex Hunts can best satisfy your hunter’s urges and your need for some thrilling big game. You can find a wide array of species to take home as trophies from your hunting adventure. If you wish to bag elusive game like fallow or sika deer, for example, you can opt for guided deer hunts at these private game preserves.

In sustainable private preserves, you’ll have better chances of taking trophy game. In addition, professional hunting guides are on hand to help ensure the success of your hunting trip. With their thorough knowledge of the hunting grounds and the resident fauna in each area, these professional guides can help you get ahead of the game.

Now, if you prefer a trophy elk, you can also take part in guaranteed elk hunts that can be customized to your every preference. With your guide’s assistance, your fall hunt will never be the same, and you can be guaranteed of nothing less than a truly satisfying adventure. So bring along your best buddies or your family, and get ready for a hunt like no other!

Scents can be divided into two categories: attracting scents and cover scents.

Attracting scents are those aromas that can cause the deer to instinctively seek out the source of the odor. Food and sex scents are the two basic types of attracting scents. These types of deer attractants should be used carefully. A deer’s nose is like radar. He can pinpoint the source of a smell from quite some distance. If you’re the source of that scent, he’ll go towards you. Here’s a great tip for using attracting scents:you should keep them light and don’t overuse it. Apply a few drops on a drag rag or around a mock scrape. Always remember that a deer’s nose is super-sensitive, so don’t overdo it when using deer attractants.

Cover scents are critical to your success and you can never really over do masking your own scent. Cover scents come in a variety of “flavors”. Start by being familiar with your surroundings. If there are foxes in the area, red fox urine may be a good choice. The same holds true for skunk scents which are common to most hunting areas and can be used on your hunting boots while traveling into your stand location. If you detect a heavy autumn smell, be sure to rub down with leaves, cedar or other foliage in your area. Any natural scent located in your hunting area will help cover your unnatural scent. The important thing to remember is you are trying not to alarm deer in the area to your presence. The cover scent which I’ve found to be highly effective is simply using what some call “damp dirt”, “fresh earth” or “natural ground.”

Keep in mind, while the use of cover scents or attracting scents will significantly help you in getting closer to deer, you need to be constantly mindful of wind direction and be sure that you make the best use of the wind in order to cover your scent or place your attractive scents to maximize their effectiveness.

Deer hunting has become one of the most popular forms of game hunting in the U.S and continues to grow in popularity ever year.

Whether deer hunting for whitetails, mule deer or other exotic deer species, deer are the most popular game species for hunters because they are numerous throughout the United States. They provide challenging sportand a good source of nutritional protein. These reasons for hunting range from traditional sport in enjoying the outdoors to trophy hunting and has become ever more popular with women hunters as well.

The deer is the most sought after game animal in North America, and its popularity is ever increasing. The reason for this popularity is because of the vast populations and variety of deer species and the availability of areas to hunt. Deer hunters encompass people of all ages and gender, starting with youngsters and ending with the expert experienced hunters that have been around for ages and know all the tips and tricks of the sport.

Deer hunting requires all the basic skills as any other form of hunting: patience, preparation and strategy, but unlike other forms of hunting, there is a special thrill of hunting a larger game animal that can be very elusive – especially when attempting to take a trophy size animal.

Here are some of the few things you need to keep in mind before you set foot into the woods to make your next hunt a successful one.

Scout early to find where the deer are. Scouting in the pre-season in the area you intend to hunt allows you to pattern where deer are traveling, their feeding and bedding habits. Finding this information before the season begins, not only increases your chances for a successful hunt, but allows you to determine early whether or not that big buck you are looking for is in that area or not.

Choose the right gear. Will you be bow or gun hunting? Make sure and work with a professional when choosing your weapon of choice and be sure to get plenty of pre-season practice at a range before your hunt. This is especially true when bow hunting as the shots made available to you may come at different angles and ranges and its vital you are proficient with your weapon before your hunt to ensure a clean, ethical kill when the opportunity presents itself. Your choice of stand, hunting clothes and calls may all vary as well as bow and gun season rarely if ever coincide, so be sure to make the determination early, get the right gear and get plenty of practice before your hunt.

Get the proper license. All hunters must possess a deer hunting license or deer tag before you can hunt deer. During the season in most area, you may need a legal license just to be in the field, even if don’t harvest a deer. Most states also require deer hunters to have completed a hunter safety education program before they can hunt. This program aims to make deer hunters safe, responsible and more knowledgeable about wildlife conservation and the proper handling of the weapons they will be carrying. Once a hunter has undergone this program, they will receive a card signifying their certification. Be sure to check with your local licensing agency for their specific requirements long before the season starts.

Wear the right hunting clothes. Always take note that what you wear may affect your hunting success. You may be sitting on stand for hours so be sure to not only dress comfortably but ensure you layer up to ensure you stay warm. Make sure you wash your clothing with a scent-free soapor masking spray to remove any odors as deer have an extremely keen sense of smell. They also have extremely good hearing so make certain you wear quiet clothing as well to reduce any potential of being detected while in the field. Remember – deer rely mainly on their keen sense of smell and hearing for survival so you must keep this in mind when out in the field.

These are just a few of the things you need to remember before you enjoy your deer hunting experience. Always prepare in advance and continue to learn more about deer, their behavior and their habitat to increase your chances of taking a trophy this year.

One key to attract the attention of a buck is by using a grunt call. It has been documented in recent years that deer are attracted with sound, and that natural deer sounds not only puts them at ease but also triggers their curiosity. It is also the most effective way of getting deer into effective bow range.

Grunts are a form of vocal communication between deer. Some grunts are simply contact calls while others may be challenging responses, especially when two dominant bucks meet. Other grunt sounds are made by deer that are in either in estrus or simply communication noises between deer.

Another method of calling is by antler rattling, which has been used for hundreds of years. Native American paintings depict antler rattling long before the Europeans arrived. This method imitates a buck fight that commonly occurs during the pre-rut season. Antlers are not the only rattling devices, synthetic materials such as plastic and fiberglass have been crafted into antler rattles. Dowel rods in cloth bags and small plastic “rattle boxes” are now available as well, all of which do a great job in getting bucks to come in to investigate.

Timing is the key to rattling success. Rattling is used most effectively during the pre-rut, which means you should leave your rattling devices behind if you are planning on hunting post-rut. Rattling simulates pre-rut bucks fighting for breeding rights, so once the rut is over, it’s best to employ other calling strategies such as a grunt call or doe bleat to attempt to draw deer nearby into your area.

Here are few other quick tips…

Preparation is one the key to a successful deer hunt. Stepping into the timber for the first time is quite a challenge and a great experience at the same time for some who are lucky enough to stick a big buck. Scouting during the pre-season is essential. Keep in mind however that you should be careful when exploring the timber before the season starts because that might scare bucks away by your presence.

Scouting should start during the previous season and should end by midsummer. Deer are creatures of habit. It is easy to find new trails where you hunt. Scrape lines are often in the same locations and on the same trees. They are so consistent year after year that made them much easier to pattern early in the season.
Don’t scout for buck signs in the spring and early summer. It is during this time of year where an area that has lots of tracks probably holds mature does and their offspring, but less signs of a mature buck. This time of year, bucks are not likely to be with the females.

On the other hand, it is a good idea, to remember where those spots are. As the rut begins the bucks will come. If you plan to hunt the rut, move into an area that holds numerous female deer.
You should also be familiar with your hunting area. The agricultural status of the area will be a big factor during scouting. This will help you predict how the deer might adapt to their habitat.
Finally, scouting is a never ending process. All the time you spend in the woods should give you more information about the deer and their surroundings. Physical traits of the land they live in changes between seasons. Scouting will make you much aware of your hunting area, what potential deer are their and help you determine their patterns to assist you with proper deer stand placement when the season opens.
If possible, utilizing a trail cam or several trail cams in the area you plan hunting will also go a long way in determining deer movement patterns and times of movement as well as seeing exactly what kind of deer are moving around in your hunting area.

Plan and book guided deer hunts in Wisconsin, the hunter’s hotspot of big game hunts. The best time to go hunting there is during the peak of the rut—the time when the deer are most active. This is the time when the trophy bucks mark their territories and feed heavily. They also chase doe (female deer) during the breeding season.

When to Hunt: The Three Phases of the Rut

The three periods of the rut constitutes the deer hunting period. The first is the pre-rut, which begins in late summer or early autumn. This is when the blood flow to a buck’s soft antlers stops and then hardens. The buck rubs small trees to remove the velvet from its antlers, marking his territory. It scrapes on deer trails and licks on branches and limbs. It urinates on the ground, making a scrape line. The behavior of the buck during this period gives signs to deer hunters scouting the area.

The second period of the rut is the main breeding period. During this phase, trophy deer hunting takes place. This is the time of year when hunters mostly go whitetail deer hunting. A buck checks his scrapes to see if a doe has visited his scrape line. The doe undergo a hormonal change, preparing them for the whitetail breeding period. When a buck spots a doe, he chases after her and stays with her until she lets him mate with her.

The third period is called the second rut which takes place late autumn. During this phase, the hormone levels of the deer decrease. Most doe have bred by this time. Those that have not may breed on the next cycle. The buck begins to regain its strength and body fat to prepare for winter. This phase is also an ideal time to go on guided deer hunts as most deer act predictably and feed in preparation for the cold months.

The Ideal Hunting Areas

The key to looking for the ideal place to go during guided deer hunts is to gather information about the place. There are several hunting areas that hunters can visit. Missouri offers whitetail deer hunting and Ohio has trophy whitetails. Wisconsin, as one of the states where deer that have huge antlers thrive, is also a great place to go on a whitetail deer hunt.

Wisconsin: The Hunting Hotspot

Plan a deer hunting trip in Wisconsin where you can experience guided whitetail deer hunts, trophy elk hunts, and fallow deer hunts. A guide can help you on your hunting trip and make it successful. Wisconsin is the hunting hotspot that gives you a memorable hunting experience.

Some derive a rush of exhilaration the search and attack game offers; many also proudly display their conquered game on their walls. From guided elk hunts along enclosed private terrain to rough adventures on public property, game hunting has been a truly enriching activity that people have enjoyed for centuries.
Originally, hunting was used in ancient times as a means of survival. Hunters would search high and low for stray animals, using spears and stone implements to bring down their prey. Back then, men went to hunt for a wide variety of games, from peacocks to even exotic animals such as tigers and lions. The tradition has been carried over to the modern era, although it is primarily treated as a form of recreation.

The Luxury Hunting Experience

Nowadays, a number of luxury hunting lodges have been established to cater to adventure seekers looking for a different kind of hunting experience. Such lodges have made special considerations to enhance every aspect of a hunter’s vacation, from tasteful décor to abundant game. These ventures have capitalized on hunting and turned the simple activity into an entire vacation experience, adding special comforts here and there to elevate it to another level.

Choosing among Game Animals

Game animals come in all shapes and sizes. The selection of game is commonly composed of field animals that aren’t endangered and can easily spawn. To moderate the ratio of hunted animals and those left to reproduce, hunting is only permitted during certain times of the year in some areas; however, private hunting lodges can operate throughout the year. During the off season of big game such as deer and trophy whitetail hunts, small game like doves, rabbits, squirrel and foxes are great alternatives.
Pheasants are also a popular choice of game. Huge populations of pheasant settle in different parts of the country. They are often found along agricultural land areas, tree strips, and wet lands. During the cooler seasons, pheasants travel together in large groups, but part ways during the summer months. Hunting seasons for pheasants vary according to their location.
The most popularly hunted game includes deer, elk, wolves, and bears. Guided elk hunts, for instance, are conducted in different areas of the country and are organized by various hunting groups. Hunting lodges also offer guided hunts as part of their vacation packages, where guests are accompanied by personal guides to designated spots where there is plenty of game to stalk.

Elk hunting has been a popular game for North American hunters for centuries. Known to be tame wild animals, elks are easy to capture. Their skins are considered good materials to use in coat production that is why they are always sought after. Others hunt for elks to eat their meat—elk meat is believed to be richer in protein than chicken meat and pork. Elk antlers are used as decorative pieces in homes; in some cases, they are used in production of nutritional supplements. Because of these, elk hunting is popular until today. As a matter of fact, ranches have been opened to offer guaranteed elk hunts.

Elk hunting is a fun sport, especially if it is done in a very spacious location. It is best to go to elk hunting ranches where there is plenty of game during the season. It will be more challenging, too, if you go elk hunting by yourself. Elks are harder to find during warm seasons. They go to elevated land where there is a much cooler environment. Instead of going to rocky and mountainous areas, you might as well go to elk outfitters to find plenty of elks.

For beginners, it is recommended that you go to elk ranches for your first few guaranteed elk hunts. There are lead and forest guides to assist you in elk hunting. Although elks are tame animals, hunting them may entail a few risks. Some people get injured during the process because they have not yet learned the best techniques of capturing those animals. If there are guides present, novice hunters will always have access to expert advice and assistance.

Elk hunting ranches today offer different packages depending on the clients’ preferences and needs. If clients choose to hunt in groups (for example, six of them prefer to hunt together), the staff can provide them an area conducive to group hunting. There is also a diversity of hunting materials to choose from. They can choose among available firearms to use in the hunt.

Some spend corporate retreats in elk hunting ranches. Elk hunting is also a good way to strengthen the bond of the group—the group packages some hunting lodges offer is a great platform for team building. Workmates can go hunting by groups. Even if there are many participants, the ranches are spacious enough to accommodate all of them.

Hunters do not have to worry about where to spend nights in the country. Ranches do not only offer guaranteed elk hunts but also comfortable lodgings for all the customers. There are also non-hunting activities to do for clients with kids and other companions who are not into hunting.
